The Piara Waters Library is now open!

A BRAND NEW LIBRARY IS COMING TO PIARA WATERS

The library is due to open it's doors to community on Monday, 2nd September!

Residents located in the suburbs of Piara Waters, Harrisdale and surrounds will soon have their own library to enjoy! Libraries are so much more than a home for books, they offer quiet areas for studying, common areas for collaboration, electronic resources and the internet along with a ranges of children and adult workshops and activities.

The much anticipated Piara Waters Library will be located on the same site as the Piara Waters Pavilion, providing a community hub with a cohesive connection to the existing sports facility.

Features will include:

  • 1000m² of floor space
  • Youth space
  • Public computers
  • Meeting rooms
  • Children’s area
  • Collaborative and private study spaces

The design for the building was undertaken by Hunt Architects, renowned for consistently delivering functional, award-winning and innovated designs. Construction has kicked off with the project estimated to take 15 months for completion. The State Government of Western Australia provided $1 million for the project, with the remaining balance funded by the City of Armadale.

Car Park Construction update as at 18 July 2024: Piara Waters Library is almost complete, and the City is now focused on improving parking facilities. The City of Armadale received funding approval from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program for the design and construction of the Piara Waters Car Park in May 2024. Since receiving the funding, several design concepts have been developed to accommodate an additional car park.

We anticipate having the final designs ready by early 2025. This timeline will allow us to commence construction in late summer, aligning with the gap between the footy and cricket seasons.

Hi Chad, great to see that you have been following this project. We do understand the concerns around parking and please be assured that we are working on alternative options. Whilst we aren't able to provide a date of when additional parking will become available, we are in the process of finalising this information.

  • Share That is a great initiative. One question: I was wondering about the parking issue, as there is frequently an overflow of cars around the area, when sporting events are run in the sports area. It seems the library will lose some existing parking spaces. Thanks, Bernie O'Leary 6 Sheldon St, Piara Waters. Mobile: 0409 081 482. on Facebook Share That is a great initiative.
