Exciting Times Ahead: City of Armadale Playground Replacements.

Exciting Times Ahead: City of Armadale Playground Replacements!

The following playgrounds within the City of Armadale are due for replacement and this is your chance to play a part in the adventure!

  • Northerly Park Playground, Harrisdale
  • Matron Olive Playground, Mount Nasura
  • Morgan Park Playground, Seville Grove
  • Splendid Playground, Harrisdale

How can I be involved?

We value your input! If you’re a local resident or user of any of these parks, your thoughts can help shape the future of play in our community. We’re eager to hear your thoughts on the proposed designs for each playground to make sure it reflects the needs of the community.

Consultation Stage 1 - Proposed Concept Plans - Now closed.

We’ve drawn up a concept plan for each playground at the above parks which provide a variety of different play experiences. You can check out the concept plans in the documents tab on the right. Once you’ve had a look, feel free to share your thoughts or comments with us below or by emailing parkdesign@armadale.wa.gov.au.

Following the feedback received above, we've tweaked our designs to ensure it’s what the community wants. Once finalised, works will commence on site in April 2026.

Consultation Stage 2 - Construction - Starting soon!

Works are due to commence in July 2026 with an anticipated completion date in September 2026.

For the duration of works and to allow construction to go ahead safely, the current space will be temporarily closed with the construction site surrounded by fencing.

The majority of works will involve earthworks, landscaping, and modifications. The primary hours of work will be on the weekdays from 7.00am to 5.00pm. There may be some noise and dust during the work for nearby residents and businesses. We will make every effort to minimise the impact of the works on the community as much as possible.

The City of Armadale thanks local residents and businesses in advance for their patience during these works. Construction work is not expected to have an adverse impact on any resident or property, however should you wish to discuss any concerns prior to the works commencing or during the construction period, please contact the Parks Development team on 9394 5000 or email parkdesign@armadale.wa.gov.au(External link)

Hi L, thanks for your comment. The City is required to renew playgrounds when they have reached their end of life to ensure safety for our community.

Hi Cass, thank you so much for your comment. Unfortunately, the consultation has now closed. However, we can confirm that the playground is designed as per Australian Standard and will undergo a playcheck by a certified consultant when constructed.

Hi Wazza, thanks for your comment.

The City renews playgrounds when required, these therefore vary in suburbs and timing. The City targeted a number of playgrounds renewals in these areas earlier this year which have now been constructed and are also targeting these areas next year too:

    This Year –

    • Heather Locke, Camillo
    • Pamplona Reserve, Seville Grove
    • Verdant Reserve, Seville Grove
    • Westfield Heron, Camillo
    • Bob Blackburn, Seville Grove
    • Don Simmons, Brookdale
    • John Dunn, Kelmscott
    • Rushton Park, Kelmscott (still in progress)

    Next year –

    • Eva & Bill, Camillo  (Park improvement)
    • Gwynne Space, Armadale (Park improvement)
    • Northerly Park Playground, Harrisdale
    • Matron Olive Playground, Mount Nasura
    • Morgan Park Playground, Seville Grove
    • Splendid Playground, Harrisdale
  • Share H there, My kids frequently use Northerly Park. Along our street, there are many school aged kids that could benefit from play equipment for older kids. There is a basketball hoop at the playground could use a new net that has been broken since we have lived in the area and never replaced. Some sporting facilities will also be nice for the area. I.e. volleyball net, soccer goals, table tennis or a scooter/skate park. The concretr area next to Northerly Oval seems like a wasted space that could be repurposed. The Northerly oval area has been flooded for some time and kids have not been able to utilise the area to kick a ball or play some cricket. • Share Hi there, We regularly use the current Matron Olive playground and find it has a great balance of play for toddlers and for younger kids. The new proposed playground has a lot of rope climbing which means the younger kids learning/able to do stairs/ladders won’t be able to use it as well - especially to get access to the slides. Is this something that can be reconsidered? on Facebook Share Hi there, We regularly use the current Matron Olive playground and find it has a great balance of play for toddlers and for younger kids. Many thanks

  • Share Hi Team I live opposite the park and hear children laughing and enjoying the playground everyday so it's great it's being renewed. However I do believe you should consider sand or the rubber surface as I know parents that avoid parks with wood chips and mulch because of the splinter prospect, falls and the ants and bugs it attracts. Ive driven past many woodchip parks that are very rarely used. Hi Rose,

Thank you for your comments. The City is looking into an alternative playground surface instead of mulch for Splendid Park. The concept plan will be updated shortly.

  • Share We use Morgan park daily. We have a toddler and a primary aged child. Morgan park current play ground is perfect for older kids and toddlers as is. It’s spacious and big enough to accommodate the soccer family influx too in the Arvos. The all abilities swing would be a good addition, but I would recommend keeping the current set up and investing in shelter and maybe a fence to keep out the cabarita rd dog that’s always off leash. It seems the proposed playground is on a smaller scale compared to the existing playground. on Facebook Share We use Morgan park daily. We have a toddler and a primary aged child. Hi Susan,

Thank you for your feedback. The current play unit is unfortunately nearing the end of its lifespan so is required to be replaced.
The project only allows for playground renewal and not amenities, however, the City will however keep your feedback in mind for any future works.
