Share Hi Team I live opposite the park and hear children laughing and enjoying the playground everyday so it's great it's being renewed. However I do believe you should consider sand or the rubber surface as I know parents that avoid parks with wood chips and mulch because of the splinter prospect, falls and the ants and bugs it attracts. Ive driven past many woodchip parks that are very rarely used. Thank you for your comments. The City is looking into an alternative playground surface instead of mulch for Splendid Park. The concept plan will be updated shortly.

Share We use Morgan park daily. We have a toddler and a primary aged child. Morgan park current play ground is perfect for older kids and toddlers as is. It’s spacious and big enough to accommodate the soccer family influx too in the Arvos. The all abilities swing would be a good addition, but I would recommend keeping the current set up and investing in shelter and maybe a fence to keep out the cabarita rd dog that’s always off leash. It seems the proposed playground is on a smaller scale compared to the existing playground. on Facebook Share We use Morgan park daily. We have a toddler and a primary aged child. Susan. F asked 18 days agoHi Susan,
Thank you for your feedback. The current play unit is unfortunately nearing the end of its lifespan so is required to be replaced.
The project only allows for playground renewal and not amenities, however, the City will however keep your feedback in mind for any future works. -
Share We live across from Splendid Park so my kids are frequent users and very excited about getting a new playground! However, as someone else mentioned, we really dislike the thought of mulch being used. There are quite a few young children that attend this park and in my opinion its just not ideal. I also feel that mulch will end up being all over the pathways. I really hope that soft rubber or sand is considered to be used. It would also be great if there can be equipment that young children/toddlers can play with at the bottom of the playground or even an open slide so young children can use it too. Unfortunately the graphics of the play unit are a little unclear in the concept, however I can confirm that there are interactive toddler play panels at ground level under the unit. -
Share We love going to Splendid Park as the equipment is suitable for young toddlers to use independently. The new design seems to cater more towards older children, with few aspects of the playground being suitable for young toddlers. Is it possible to include a smaller open slide (like the one currently there)? Perhaps including a swing may also make it more suitable to a wider age group. Many thanks! on Facebook Share We love going to Splendid Park as the equipment is suitable for young toddlers to use independently. Mirka Craig asked 13 days agoHi Mirka,
Thank you for your feedback.
The City will review the proposed play unit for Splendid and the possibility of adding a smaller open slide. Unfortunately the graphics in the concept aren't clear, however there are also toddler play opportunities on ground level under the unit with interactive panels such as shop front and cafe window.
Unfortunately as the play area is quite small, the City is limited to the amount of equipment within the space due to playground fall zone requirements.

Share Hi there, I was excited to get the flyer notifying us of upgrades to our playground. However, upon further investigation I am very disappointed in the concept for Northerly playground, that shows a lack of insight into how the park is utilised by the community. This is a very busy playground, not only used by toddlers in the morning but also by school aged kids going there after school and families and friends meeting there *every* evening with their children. This design feels like a token playground that they can't actually really do much on. The main structure proposed for Morgan Park would be much better suited to how Northerly Park is enjoyed by the community, with equipment suitable for both younger preschool and school aged children. Also, this playground originally had soft fall over the whole area, which was much better for little feet and provided a surface for young kids to ride around on their bikes and scooters. The existing benches face the afternoon sun, and there is no seating on the other side. Soft fall would at least provide an alternative place to sit where we don't have to have the sun in our faces. This is a wonderful opportunity to improve the existing facilities to better meet the needs of our local community and I sincerely hope that you will consider the points raised above. on Facebook Share Hi there, I was excited to get the flyer notifying us of upgrades to our playground. Anne Ward asked 29 days agoHi Anne,
Thank you for your feedback.
The 25-26 Playground Renewal Program scope only allows for replacing the existing playground like for like rather than upgrading. Unfortunately it does not include surrounding amenities however the City will keep this feedback in mind for any future improvement works at Northerly Park.
The play area size at Northerly is much smaller than Morgan Park so the City is restricted by fall zone requirements as to what type of equipment can fit into the existing play area. However, the City will do its best to review your feedback and see how it can be incorporated into an updated concept plan. If updated, a new concept plan will be available on this page late-September.

Share I love the idea of the City updating the parks. I think we have some of the best in Perth. Can I ask why the parks and playgrounds/lack of are continually not considered for upgrading/developing. The demographic has dramatically changed in the last few years living there, yet nothing has been done to provide improvements for the green spaces for younger families moving into the area, especially Henrietta reserved. There's soo much potential for this space to be developed I to something special for our neglected part of the City of Armadale. I look forward on hearing your thoughts on this very soon. on Facebook Share I love the idea of the City updating the parks. I think we have some of the best in Perth. MMathews asked about 1 month agoHi there,
Thank you for your feedback.
Each year the City replaces a number of playgrounds that are due for renewal. Additionally, the City has a Parks Facility Strategy that guides the improvement and management of open space in regards to the provision of park recreational facilities (i.e bins, seating, playgrounds). The City recently engaged with the local community about the Strategy on how to plan and improve locals parks . The updated strategy is not yet endorsed, however a draft copy is available to read at https://engage.armadale.wa.gov.au/make-your-mark-on-our-parks.

Share We use splendid park all the time, however will unlikely play there in future if the surface will be mulch. It is completely unenjoyable for kids to play in an area with mulch. There is nothing practical about it. The best play surfaces are the soft rubber or sand.
