When will the project start?

It is proposed that this project will be staged:

    • Stage 1 - Financial Year 2024/2025 - Forrestdale Sporting Pavilion  - Construct
    • Stage 2 - Financial Year 2026/2027 - Forrestdale Pavilion External Works
    • Stage 3 - Financial Year 2028/2029 - Forrestdale Community Hall

Will the existing large trees be retained?

All the mature trees on site will be retained!

The current draft concept design does require removal of some smaller trees.  The concept also includes landscaping, including the planting of trees to provide shade and habitat in the new car-park areas.

Will there be disruption to the current use of the Hub?

The construction schedule and staging are being worked through as part of the current design phase.  It is planned that the new sporting pavilion is built while the FSA continue operating from their existing premises, and then move to the new premises when complete.

Access and temporary parking arrangements are still being worked through.

Is traffic being considered as part of the project?

Yes.  Two traffic and parking assessments have been undertaken to understand the overall parking and movement needs within the site, and to surrounding areas.

The overall concept design includes a more southern entry to the site off Weld Street to accommodate MRWA requirements for distance to the Armadale Rd Roundabout.  An east-west connection will be established to allow for access to the Armadale Road exit/entrance near Alfred Skeet.

Coach access, accessible parking and active transport arrival are also considerations included in the overall design.

    Will there be sufficient parking?

Parking is always at a premium at these busy community hubs - particularly with two fantastic sporting associations located at Forrestdale.   The City has commissioned parking studies to calculate the required parking, and will meet this as a minimum.  Overflow opportunities are also being investigated.

How long will the project take?

The project team are still working on the construction staging and program.  The sporting pavilion will be the first facility commenced, and has an anticipated 18 month construction timeframe.

The timing of courts, youth space and the hall will be subject to the final site layout and when the demolition of the existing sporting pavilion can occur.
