Armadale Suburban University Study Hub
Imagine a hub right in the centre of Armadale—a place where students can pursue their academic goals without the need to continually commute long distances. This hub could become a focal point for learning, collaboration, and personal growth within our community. It would not only cater to the educational needs of local residents but also foster a dynamic environment where knowledge meets innovation.
We want to bring this level of support to our local Armadale community, but we need your help to do so.
The City is inviting community feedback on the potential establishment of a Suburban University Study Hub (SUSH), aiming to enrich local educational opportunities and community engagement. This initiative aims to bring higher education resources closer to home, offering convenience and accessibility for students and residents alike.
The Federal Government’s SUSH Program takes an innovative approach to improve access to, and success in, tertiary education. Hubs are community-driven spaces that offer tailored support to their local community, providing dedicated study facilities and wrap-around support services which may include:
📚 Infrastructure: study spaces, break out areas, video conferencing, computer and printing facilities, internet access, meeting rooms
📚 Administrative and academic skills support services: developing writing and research skills, managing administrative processes
📚 Student support services: general wellbeing support, study advice, help accessing student services, supporting students with paid placements and Work Integrated Learning, careers advice
The City intends to submit an application for Federal Government funding to establish the Armadale inner-city study hub. If successful in securing the available funding, it will cover the cost of the fit out, infrastructure, equipment, administration, and overall running of this new hub. The Federal Government is intending to fund up to 14 new Suburban University Study Hubs in Australia, and the application process will be extremely competitive in WA. In light of this, the City is working towards preparing a strong application which would benefit from the support of our community.
Whether you're a current student, future student, local business owner, community member, have family or friends studying, or you simply see the benefit a hub could bring to our City, we'd love to hear from you!
By providing feedback, you have the opportunity to shape the vision of this Study Hub. Your insights can influence its design, programming, and facilities, ensuring that it meets the diverse needs and aspirations of our community members. Whether you're a student, educator, business owner, or resident, your perspective is valuable in creating a hub that reflects our shared values and aspirations.
Join us in envisioning what a SUSH could mean for Armadale. Together, we can create a vibrant educational hub that enhances opportunities, strengthens community bonds, and contributes to the continued growth and prosperity of our city.
