Proposed Road Safety Treatments on Challis Road, Lowanna Way and Tait Street in Armadale / Seville Grove

The City of Armadale and Main Roads Western Australia (Main Roads WA) are working collaboratively on a new road safety initiative – the Low Cost Urban Road Safety Program (Low Cost URSP) – to reduce the likelihood of fatal and serious injury crashes on local roads across the metropolitan area.

The program involves installing low-cost road safety treatments to local roads on an area wide or whole-of-streets basis that can improve the safety of roads and intersections, and reduce crashes that impact our community.

Challis Road, Lowanna Way and Tait Street across the suburbs of Armadale (north of Armadale Road) and Seville Grove have been selected as an area treatment under the new program. A mix of road hump plateaus and speed cushions will be constructed at locations as indicated on the plans (please download from the list of documents). These treatments will improve road safety by reducing vehicle speeds. Street lighting and pedestrian crossings in the vicinity of these treatments will also be reviewed and upgraded if required.

Construction of the treatments is tentatively scheduled to commence in early 2024, subject to approvals receiving from the relevant authorities.
