Application for Development Application - Change of Use to Rural Pursuit - Tree Farm - Lot 104 No.132 Croyden Road, Roleystone
The City has received an application for the abovementioned proposal, which involves the following:
Operation of a Christmas Tree Farm
Total of 9000 trees across the subject site, with a three year growing cycle
Trees to be harvested approx. 3000 per year
Trees planted as seedlings by hand in three separate areas across the site, planting season winter/early spring
Trees require pruning every 3-4 months, by hand using mechanical shears or chain saws
Watering intending to use existing bore, pump and well (NOTE applicant seeking separate approval from DWER for Water Licence)
Members of the public to visit the site for approx. 6 weeks of the year to choose their tree:
Open Monday to Sunday 6am to 6pm
Open in November and December each year only. Closed to public for remainder of the year.
Up to 100 family groups per day, managed with an online booking system to manage numbers on site at any one time
Customers harvest their own tree on site, using provided hand tools, and load selected tree into their own vehicle to remove from site
Use of existing shed for cashiers office.
No formal café facilities are proposed to be provided on site
Vehicle access to site via existing Croyden Road crossover
No additional members of staff, owner/operator lives on site.
