The School Zones and Children’s Crossings Program helps to keep children safe by installing flashing speed signs near schools and crossings, reminding drivers to slow down at busy times.
In April 2024, the State Government announced a $10 million boost over four years to expand the program, adding new signs and lower speed limits at children’s crossings outside school zones during school hours.
Funded by the Road Safety Commission and delivered by Main Roads WA, the program makes it safer for kids to walk, ride or cycle to and from school, supporting the state’s Active Travel to School Roadmap 2023–2030.
