The City has received a Draft Structure Plan for the above future urban area and is now inviting comment on that structure plan. A structure plan outlines the proposed layout and potential staging of development areas, and provides the framework to guide landowners, developers, relevant agencies and decision makers when considering subdivision and development proposals.
Previously you may have been aware that the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) rezoned the land from the “Rural” zone to “Parks and Recreation” reserve, “Primary Regional Road” and “Urban” zone under the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS). Subsequently, the Council initiated an Amendment to the City’s Town Planning Scheme No.4 to rezone the area known as Forrestdale Townsite East Future Urban Precinct from “Rural Living” zone to “Urban Development” zone, to add a Development Area (No. 73) to the Special Control Area Map 3 to include the subject lots and to insert provisions into the City’s Town Planning Scheme to guide the development of a Structure Plan for the area. The amendment to the Town Planning Scheme is still in progress and has not been finally adopted by Council yet.
Submissions on the Structure Plan must be made in writing, and can be lodged in person, via email to info@armadale.wa.gov.au or posted to Locked Bag No.2, Armadale 6992. Submissions should include the Scheme Amendment number, the property affected and details of the submission. Submission must be lodged on or before 5:00pm on 26 August 2026.
