Proposed Amendment 127 to Town Planning Scheme No. 4 - Rezoning of Forrestdale Townsite East Future Urban Area from "Rural Living" Zone to "Urban Development" Zone
In February 2025 the Council resolved to initiate the above amendment to the City’s Town Planning Scheme. Consent to advertise this amendment was received from the Western Australian Planning Commission on 9 March 2026.
The purpose of the Amendment is to rezone the area known as Forrestdale Townsite East Future Urban Precinct from “Rural Living” zone to “Urban Development” zone, to add a Development Area (No. 73) to the Special Control Area Map 3 to include the subject lots and to insert provisions into the City’s Town Planning Scheme to guide the development of a Structure Plan for the area. A Location Plan is attached.
Previously you may have been aware that the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) rezoned the land from the “Rural” zone to “Parks and Recreation” reserve, “Primary Regional Road” and “Urban” zone under the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS). It is a requirement that Local Governments ensure their local town planning schemes are consistent with the MRS. Accordingly, Amendment 127 to the City’s Town Planning Scheme No. 4 will enact this requirement.
Submissions on the Scheme Amendment must be made in writing, and can be lodged in person, via email to info@armadale.wa.gov.au or posted to Locked Bag No.2, Armadale 6992. Submissions should include the Scheme Amendment number, the property affected and details of the submission. Submission must be lodged on or before 4.45pm on 13 May 2026.
Enquiries to Meredith Kenny, Coordinator Strategic Planning by email to info@armadale.wa.gov.au or by phone 9394 5000.
