FAQs
What is Neighbourhood Connections Network (NCN)?
The Neighbourhood Connections Network (NCN) is a network created by the City of Armadale Community Development team to provide an opportunity for community group leaders or nominated representatives to get together to collaborate, share information, celebrate successes and discuss goals and future projects whilst forming relationships and connections between groups operating within the City of Armadale. All community groups, clubs and organisations are welcome to join the network.
What can I expect at an NCN meeting?
NCN meetings are chaired by a City of Armadale Community Development Officer, and Agenda items usually include some group administration, discussion on any NCN initiatives or projects, ideas for professional development and/or guest speakers, with the remainder of the meeting open for roundtable discussion, group introductions and updates.
Who can get involved?
Although open to all of community, the NCN is best suited to community group, club or organisation committee members or representatives. If you belong to a community group, club or organisation and are passionate about fostering social connection, sharing information and advocating for your suburbs or community members we would love to have you join the network!
Why is the NCN needed?
The Neighbourhood Connections Network (NCN) was created to help strengthen the many community groups, organisations and clubs operating within the City of Armadale. We believe that by encouraging stronger relationships between community groups and organisations, providing professional development and learning opportunities and promoting civic engagement and social interaction through residents’ participation in community action we can help community groups grow and reach their objectives.
Where does the NCN meet and is it compulsory to attend meetings?
The Network meets every second month at Frye Park Pavilion, Kelmscott for two hours with attendance at the meeting a great way for community group representatives to form strong connections and relationships with each other. All community groups, organisations and clubs are welcome to attend. Attendance is not compulsory to remain on the network, and RSVPs are also not required as we understand the time pressures community group representatives may be under. The network is there as a tool to be used to assist community groups, and not as an additional burden on already time poor volunteers.
How do I join the NCN?
Joining the NCN is easy! You can show up at a meeting, contact Jade via email on jbryan@armadale.wa.gov.au or sign up through the link on this page.
