FAQs
Why is the Neerigen Brook Culvert being replaced?
The Neerigen Brook recently overtopped, causing localised flooding. After a detailed Engineering Assessment, it was identified that the aging existing pipe network was not suitable to carry larger flows during storm conditions. As such the recommendation was to upgrade the culvert under the road to stop the flooding issue.
What is a culvert?
A Culvert is a tunnel carrying a stream or open drain under a roadway.
How will this affect the traffic using this road?
The road will be closed while the culvert works are undertaken. No access will be to or from the Albany Highway via Carradine Road at this intersection. Diversions will be in place.
How long will the traffic diversion be in place?
It is anticipated that the construction duration will be 3 months, however, delays may be experienced due to inclement weather or other external factors beyond our control.
Can I drive through the Armadale Primary School kiss and drop road?
No. The ‘kiss and go’ road is privately owned by Armadale Primary School. Its use as an alternative route to access the residential areas within Mount Nasura and Bedfordale will not be allowed.
Rangers and local Police may be in attendance to ensure the compliance with this.
Will the road continue to flood in heavy rains?
The upgraded culverts are capable of handling much larger flows than was available previously. The risk of flooding after the upgrade will be greatly reduced.
