Morgan Park Redevelopment
Exciting changes are on the horizon for Morgan Park, an integral part of the Seville Grove community, spanning over 6.67 hectares. With a focus on football and athletics, this space has been a hub of activity throughout the seasons. We're thrilled to announce a redevelopment plan that aims to enhance the park experience for all.
What's Planned or The Vision:
- Upgraded Pavilion: Enhancements to the current pavilion are essential to improve its functionality and appeal. Its location and secluded car park have occasionally attracted anti-social behaviour. We want to ensure this space is safe and welcoming for everyone. While minor upgrades are planned in the short to medium term, long-term goals are in sight to relocate the pavilion.
- Park Elements:
- Fields catering to football and athletics
- A dedicated area for field events, featuring a long jump pit, discus, and shot put circles
- Playground for our young visitors
- A conveniently located car park for your ease.
Community Consultation
We value your input, and your voices have guided us through this journey, key insights from our consultations include:
- General support for the Master Plan, especially the idea of activating the area in place of the current car park and pavilion
- Positive responses to the long-term pavilion relocation, though concerns were raised about the potential loss of playing space
- Requests for increased street and passive lighting, a nature playground, shaded areas, and public toilets.
Our Engagement Journey:
We've been listening to your thoughts and ideas.
The project involved a series of key engagement activities, beginning with a workshop for the community and stakeholders focused on idea generation. This was followed by a workshop with city staff from Community and Technical Services to encourage collaboration.
A third workshop gathered feedback from the community and stakeholders on draft concepts. Councillors were then briefed to share insights, and a public comment period was held to collect broader community feedback on the draft concepts. The process concluded with the endorsement of the Master Plan.
Morgan Park Community/Sporting Facility – Project Brief:
As part of our commitment to enhancing the park, a new/relocated sporting pavilion at Morgan Park is in the works. This decision takes into account a variety of factors, including security concerns in the current car park area and the ageing infrastructure of the existing pavilion.
Project elements you have to look forward
- A new, multi-user pavilion with publicly accessible toilets in the northern part of the public open space
- A new car park conveniently located next to the pavilion
- The potential conversion of the current car park and pavilion location (Ironcap Place) into a dog exercise area
- Enhanced playspace
- Exercise nodes and distance markers along the perimeter path
- Improved pedestrian access from Tomah Road to the playspace
- Relocation of lighting
- Reconfiguration of playing fields and athletics field events.
Stay engaged and become a part of this exciting transformation to create a vibrant and welcoming Morgan Park for the entire community.

I would love to see better kids playgrounds (including ones that are designed for toddlers) in Seville Grove. I think that softfall instead of sand around the playgrounds are much better, and that slides and swings are always a big hit with kids. Retention of mature trees is also very important to ensure that there is plenty of shade.
