Mason Road Upgrade - Warton Road to Southampton Drive/Lockeville Boulevard


Mason Road is a local distributor located in Piara Waters connecting Warton Road to Nicholson Road.

The majority of Mason Road has already been constructed to an urban standard by adjoining developments.

The upgrade of Mason Road from Warton Road to Southampton Drive/Lockeville Boulevard has been identified as being required for the following reasons:

  • Expected increase in traffic volumes as a result of the recent rezoning of the adjoining landholdings to the north and south to urban zone
  • The opening of a new public secondary school within the project area on the northern side of Mason Road
  • To provide general improvements to traffic flows within the area

The upgrade works will include the following components:

  • Earthworks
  • Drainage upgrades
  • Underground power
  • New street lighting
  • Road construction
  • Landscaping of verges, medians and roundabouts including the provision of large canopy street trees

The upgraded road will consist of a median island separated 2 lane carriage way with cycle lanes, a footpath and the construction of two new roundabouts.

Refer to the 85% draft detailed design drawings for more information.

The City is currently preparing a landscape concept plan illustrating proposed landscaping treatments within the verges, medians and roundabout areas including tree placements. These plans will be available for viewing and comment when finalised.

Funding for the road upgrade will be through the City’s North Forrestdale Development Contribution Plan No. 3. Through DCP No.3 the City collects Development Contributions that provide an external source of funding to facilitate the delivery of essential facilities and infrastructure that provide benefits to the Harrisdale and Piara Waters communities.

The road construction works are expected to commence in the 2022/2023 financial year. Further details regarding the timing for commencement of the construction works will be provided in early 2023 and a notification letter will be sent to affected landowners one month prior to works commencing on site.
