Kelmscott District Centre Precinct Structure Plan Project - Public Advertising of Precinct Structure Plan Documents

Documents Available here: https://www.armadale.wa.gov.au/kelmscott-district-centre-precinct-structure-plan

The City of Armadale is undertaking the preparation of a Precinct Structure Plan for the Kelmscott District Centre.

Precinct Structure Plans are important planning documents that coordinate future subdivision, development and land use zoning for town centres. They are used to establish a vision, encourage redevelopment and guide future public and private investment. The Precinct Structure Plan will also assist in encouraging high quality development outcomes (for example, via land use guidance, building heights, site coverage and residential densities) and improvement of streetscapes and public places over time.

Council has appointed a highly experienced consultancy team to carry out this project on its behalf, led by urban design and town planning consultancy Taylor Burrell Barnett. Taylor Burrell Barnett and City Officers have engaged with stakeholders at various stages of the project to gain insight into desired outcomes and to seek feedback from landowners, business owners, service providers, government agencies and the broader community.

Public advertising of a Precinct Structure Plan for the purposes of public review and submissions is an important milestone and a further opportunity to receive stakeholder comment and input.

The Precinct Structure Plan documents and further project information, including a list of frequently asked questions, can be accessed from the dedicated project webpage (https://www.armadale.wa.gov.au/kelmscott-district-centre-precinct-structure-plan). Online submissions can be lodged on this webpage.

The public advertising period for this Precinct Structure Plan is 42 days, in accordance with the timeframe provided in the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015). Submissions are therefore invited until Monday 19 September 2022.

Please be advised that this Precinct Structure Plan project is separate to the rail, road and servicing works progressing in Kelmscott by the State Government’s MetroNet team as part of the Denny Avenue Level Crossing Removal Project. For further information on the MetroNet project please refer to its webpage here: https://www.metronet.wa.gov.au/projects/denny-avenue-level-crossing-removal
