Why does the pavilion need to be redeveloped?

The current building is no longer compliant or fit for purpose. The new building will be gender friendly and accessible for all.

How much is the redevelopment costing?

Current estimates for this new facility are approximately $8.9 million, this figure will be refined as the design progresses and tenders are considered.

    When will the project start?

Works are expected to start late 2025/early 2026.

What will happen to the existing users of the pavilion?

Temporary toilets and change rooms will be provided while construction is underway. The City is also investigating relocating current users to temporary facilities during the construction.

Will other users at Gwynne Park be affected by the project?

There will be some disruption to other users of Gwynne Park; however, the project team will aim to minimise this. Some disruption that users may experience is areas being fenced to ensure a safe construction, set down areas for builders and their contractors, installation of site offices, installation of temporary amenities for football and cricket players during the construction team and some loss of parking.
