Gwynne Park Play Space Improvement
Exciting times ahead: Gwynne Park Play Space Improvement.
The playground at Gwynne Park is due for renewal and this is your chance to play a part in the adventure!
How can I be involved?
The City values your input. If you’re a local resident or Gwynne Park enthusiast, your ideas can help shape the future of play and park use at Gwynne Park. We’re eager to collaborate with you in designing a playground that reflects what the community wants!
The City will run a three-stages engagement process, allowing users and residents to follow along with the project journey.
Stage One – Survey – Now Closed.
Take part in the survey below to help us understand what you like or dislike about Gwynne Park, particularly the playground.
The survey will close on Monday 4th August 2025 and following feedback received from the survey, a concept plan will be developed and provided back to the community for comments as part of the second stage on consultation.
Survey Summary:
Stage One of the consultation ran for three weeks and encouraged local residents and park users to complete a survey and the key findings revealed that while users appreciated the park's open space and multi-use areas, they noted significant amenity gaps such as lack of shelter, water fountains, seating, and modern play equipment.
The current play space was seen as outdated and not inclusive or challenging enough, with a strong desire expressed for slides, swings, sensory and imaginative features, and more accessible surfacing. Input from children highlighted preferences for adventurous and diverse play experiences similar to regional parks like Bibra Lake and Kwinana Adventure Playground.
These insights will now inform the development of a concept plan, which will be shared in Stage Two of the consultation.
Stage Two - Concept Design - Now Open!
Following the survey's feedback, a concept plan has been developed that embodies the community's request for a modern inclusive play space.
You can expect to see:
- New playground unit featuring interactive panels, shelter, multiple slides, ramp, bridges, rock wall, shop front, musical elements and twist climber
- A combined play area with both mulch and rubber playground surfacing
- Triple swing including baby seat and basket seat
- 3x3 basketball court with Flexipave surfacing and line-marking
- Combination basketball post and soccer goal
- Increased pathways and pedestrian access
- 'Learn to Ride' area
- Additional trees and landscaping areas
- Central turf hang out space
