FAQs
What is a DAIP?
A DAIP documents the City’s commitment to ongoing improvement to meet the needs of people with disability. A DAIP is a framework of the strategies and actions that will be implemented to achieve equitable outcomes for people with disability. DAIPs must address the following seven outcomes:
Outcome 1: Events and services - People with disability have the same opportunities as other people to access the services and events of a public authority.
Outcome 2: Buildings and facilities - People with disability have the same opportunities as other people to access the buildings and other facilities of a public authority.
Outcome 3: Information - People with disability receive information from a public authority in a format that enables them to access the information as readily as other people.
Outcome 4: Service quality - People with disability receive the same level and quality of service from the staff of a public authority as other people receive.
Outcome 5: Complaints - People with disability have the same opportunities as other people to make complaints to a public authority.
Outcome 6: Consultation - People with disability have the same opportunities as other people to participate in any public consultation by a public authority.
Outcome 7: Employment - People with disability have the same opportunities as other people to obtain and maintain employment with a public authority.
Why are we doing this?
The City of Armadale is committed to ensuring people with disability have equal access to all City information, amenities, services, facilities and events. It is a requirement of the Disability Services Act 1993 (WA) that all public authorities, including Local Governments prepare and implement a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) to improve access and inclusion outcomes for people living with disability.
What happens with your feedback?
The City will use information received from the community to determine what we do well to support people with disability and identify where we can make improvements. We will then produce a new DAIP that documents how the City will actively support people with disability for the financial years 2026 – 2031. The new DAIP will be available to the community on our website and in other formats.
