Welcome to the Central Park project...

... Where the future of Armadale connects

We’re reimagining a vibrant new City Park that will become the heartbeat of our city centre, linking the elevated Armadale Train Station (delivered as part of METRONET’s Byford Rail Extension) with the City Centre and surrounding precincts.

Where are we now:

  • Community consultation to inform the design of this space closed on 8 November 2024.
  • The Community Engagement Report is available in the Documents tab (or view it here).
  • Using your feedback, the project team and partners are refining the design, staging and approvals needed to move the project towards delivery.
  • Site hoarding and future media updates will direct here for the latest information.

What we heard from our community:

From more than a year of listening, several themes stood out:

  • A central, welcoming hub with shade, seating and spaces to gather.
  • Nature and youth play that’s inclusive, challenging and distinctive to Armadale.
  • Safer, more active places with lighting, passive surveillance and all-abilities access.
  • Greener and cooler spaces with trees, water-wise landscaping and biodiversity.
  • Safe and active connections between the station forecourt, Jull Street Mall and Armadale West.

Our vision:

Armadale’s Central Park will be a dynamic, multi-use space that bridges the new station and city centre. It will offer something for everyone! Regional nature play, youth facilities, places to rest, meet and celebrate, while acting as a catalyst for the renewal of the station precinct and surrounding main streets.

What’s next:

  • Design refinement: Incorporating community input into detailed design and staging.
  • Approvals & partnerships: Ongoing coordination with State partners (including METRONET) and key stakeholders.
  • Construction planning: Scheduling works to minimise disruption and keep the community informed ahead of any changes.
  • Hoarding & updates: Site hoarding will feature a QR code back to this page; major milestones and media statements will be posted here first.

Timing is subject to approvals and procurement. We’ll publish milestones and any impacts on this page as they are confirmed.

Why it matters for Armadale:

  • A new civic heart: A huge public space connecting people to the City Centre and Perth’s rail network.
  • A regional destination: Landmark play and youth facilities that draw visitors and support local business.
  • An economic boost: More foot traffic and activity - day and night - helping main streets thrive.
  • Greener, cooler city: More trees and habitat, reducing urban heat and improving amenity.
  • Active travel: Safer, more direct links for walking, wheeling and public transport.
