Welcome to Karlup Journey Place
Welcome to Karlup Journey Place
A new civic heart is taking shape in Armadale.
Today, the City of Armadale officially revealed the identity of Karlup Journey Place and marked the commencement of construction through the Central Park Project Turning of the Sod event.
Karlup Journey Place is the new overarching identity for a connected civic precinct surrounding the elevated Armadale Station. Within the precinct, Banksia Summit Park and Cockatoo Creek Park will deliver distinct experiences and destinations for the community while forming part of a broader, connected public space network.
Made possible through funding from the Australian Government, Lotterywest, the WA Government through METRONET and the City of Armadale, the Central Park Project will create a vibrant regional destination that connects the city centre, public transport, community facilities and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Shaped by extensive community engagement and cultural guidance, Karlup Journey Place reflects movement, connection, growth and community. It recognises both the cultural significance of place and Armadale's continuing evolution as a growing strategic centre.
Construction is now underway, with works expected to continue throughout 2026 and 2027.

What we heard from our community
Community feedback highlighted several key priorities:
- A central, welcoming hub with shade, seating and spaces to gather.
- Nature and youth play that’s inclusive, challenging and distinctive to Armadale.
- Safer, more active places with lighting, passive surveillance and all-abilities access.
- Greener and cooler spaces with trees, water-wise landscaping and biodiversity.
- Safe and active connections between the station forecourt, Jull Street Mall and Armadale West.
Our vision
The Central Park Project will create a dynamic, multi-use civic destination connecting the elevated station and city centre. The precinct will include regional nature play, youth and recreation facilities, event and public spaces, greener landscapes and improved connections through the heart of Armadale, while supporting the ongoing transformation of the station precinct and surrounding city centre.
