The subject land forms Stage 2 of the proposed South Forrestdale Industrial Area. The land has previously been rezoned by the Western Australian Planning Commission under the Metropolitan Region Scheme from Rural zone to Industrial zone (MRS 1340/57). It is now necessary to amend the City's Town Planning Scheme to bring the zoning under this Scheme into alignment with the Industrial zoning that applies under the Metropolitan Region Scheme.
